Fear

Fear is an emotional state in the presence, or anticipation of a dangerous stimulus.
Fear for loud sound, strangers, unknown objects, new places, dark shadows, darkness, seclusion, imaginary objects etc are common with children. Often fears become intense like anger.
Due to fear, the behaviours affected are pounding of heart, rapid pulse rate, tense muscles, dryness of the throat, churning in the stomach, frequent nature-call, confusion, fainting, inability to concentrate, wetting n soling one's dress and crying aloud etc. Response to the fear emotions are usually expressed through anxiety, flight and feeling miserable.

Fear to particular object or events, when becomes irrational, is called "Phobia", phobic reactions of fear are persistent and intense and not based on so judgement.
For example: fears of public speaking are an example of social phobia.
These irrational fears can be eliminated and cured through classical conditioning methods. Fear emotions can be rectified by few techniques such as counter-conditioning process, desensitisation process and exposure to fearless models.

Part of fears developed on the base of lack of knowledge (cause of ignorance). Mostly it defines to the situations when an individual has to do something for the very first time, something he has never done before without any kind of experience that's why fear is inside of that person instead of knowledge.
Some fears is based on the previous negative experience, when he isn't succeeding in something, the person feels the pain and suffering that's why he's afraid of the repetition of such a situation.
Third part of fears is based on the fear of death. The strongest among the existent fears is the fear of death, it's the fear to lose body(life), and it doesn't matter whether it's life of this person or his close ones. Fear of death is a very complex issue and it requires it's own special methods.

Analyze and find the causes of your mistakes in the past, make conclusions and try to correct mistakes you made. The bigger part of fear will disappear when you really realize the reasons of your failures and accept them, then just do not repeat your mistakes, and make your second attempt in a new way.
One more thing, if you want to get rid of most of your fears start to live, act, talk honestly, according to your conscience.
And the most common fear of cause is deception and lie or a sin. Subconsciously, when a person sins, he deserves to be punished and consequently he's afraid of it. Our soul and conscience always know when we do something wrong and deserve being punished.
Remember that honest people have nothing to hide, so there's nothing they can be afraid off....
