According to William Arthur Ward: "The mediocre teacher tells, the Good Teacher Explains, the Superior Teacher Demonstrates, but a Great Teacher Inspires."
For me teaching is all about inspiration, the teacher's job transcends the mere act of implementing knowledge and information to students. The fundamental goal and pleasure of teaching can neither be achieved nor sensed through lecturing and rote memorization of students with knowledge. As a teacher it is their duty to inspire students and make them discover themselves freely instead of making them abide by strict national standards of the course book.
Inspiration cannot be engraved in textbooks nor in class black boards; it is modelled by and through the teacher. Simply teaching the students of the bookish terms is not a good path of inspiring them instead it's about education and instilling good values and paving the way into the learners. Every teachers expectation is to make their students to be unique individuals with exceptional aspirations and talents.
Parent's being our very own first teachers, always encourages their children to discover to "Who I Am" and find out "What I really want from life". They never force us to read books the whole day and memorize as many words and correct them instead they shape our personality through their guidance and love.
Parenting is not different from teaching, they both require a model, a guide on the side and source of inspiration, so that they share their experiences to the coming future. A Parent and a Teacher aspires us "to-be-yourself" and their main goal is to provide a secure, caring and stimulating learning atmosphere in which children can 'grow and mature emotionally, intellectually and socially' by using such a strategy as 'positive discipline'.
When dealing with your children or students, not only should the parents and teachers attend to them as beings of logic, but as emotional humans. Teenage students desperate craving is to be appreciated, by giving them that sense of importance, we'll be able to leave a long-standing mark in their hearts and minds, filling them up with exalting self-confidence.
I personally belive that encouragement and appreciation are more effective teaching devices than punishment and scolding (after a certain extent).
Thus, the longer the teacher or parent teaches, the more important it is for them to observe that our students or children are curious, contented and at ease in the classroom or at home.
